The Military Engineer Services (MES) has issued a tender for the installation of rooftop solar power plants totaling 500 kWp across select buildings in Chandigarh. The project is estimated at ₹3.84 crore and will be executed over 30 months, including six months for installation and 24 months for operations and maintenance.

According to the tender notice (CA No: CE CHZ/CHM/T-07/2025-26), the project will be executed under a lump-sum/measurement contract system, with bids to be submitted online via the defproc.gov.in portal. The tender document price is fixed at ₹2,000, while interested bidders must submit an Earnest Money Deposit (EMD) of ₹4.59 lakh.

Only MES-enlisted contractors of Class ‘A’ and above, or eligible non-enlisted contractors meeting financial and technical requirements, can participate. Contractors must either possess or have an MoU with a solar power firm registered under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana portal. They must also demonstrate past experience in commissioning government solar projects of at least:

-One project of 400 kWp or more, or

-Two projects of 250 kWp or more, or

-Three projects of 200 kWp or more.

The project aims to support renewable energy adoption within defence infrastructure, contributing to India’s broader clean energy and carbon reduction goals. The Chief Engineer (Chandigarh Zone) will act as the tender-accepting authority, while execution will be carried out by GE Chandigarh.
