NTPC Limited has completed the auction for a large-scale battery energy storage system (BESS) project, marking a major step forward for India’s energy storage sector. The project is designed with a capacity of 500 MW/2,000 MWh and involves setting up 2,334 MWh of BESS across NTPC’s thermal power stations in Karnataka, Maharashtra, Bihar, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana under Lot-I.
Several companies have secured different capacities under this auction. G R Infraprojects won 400 MWh for the Mouda thermal station in Maharashtra. Enviro Infra Engineers secured 480 MWh for Kudgi in Karnataka and 100 MWh for Ramagundam in Telangana. Solarworld Energy Solutions won 264 MWh for the Solapur thermal station in Maharashtra.
Further, NTPC GE Power Services secured 400 MWh for the Barh station in Bihar. Pace Digitek and Enrich Energy won 400 MWh and 290 MWh for Nabinagar in Bihar and Simhadri in Andhra Pradesh, respectively.
Along with installation, all selected bidders are required to integrate these systems with thermal plants and provide operation and maintenance services for 11 years.
