Kenya Clean Energy Week 2026 brought together key stakeholders from across East Africa’s renewable energy ecosystem for a focused day of policy dialogue, technology exchange, and investment alignment in Nairobi.

Held at Emara Hotel Ole Sereni, the 5th edition convened policymakers, regulators, utilities, financiers, developers, and technology providers at a critical stage in Kenya’s energy transition, with discussions centered on translating clean energy ambition into scalable and executable outcomes.

With Kenya advancing its renewable energy goals and strengthening its policy and regulatory frameworks, the conversations reflected a clear shift toward execution, grid readiness, financing structures, and deployment at scale.

Opening the Dialogue  

The conference commenced with Opening Remarks by the Chief Guest, Dr Esther Wangombe, Director of Renewable Energy, Ministry of Energy, Kenya, who outlined Kenya’s policy direction and emphasized the importance of coordinated action between government and industry in accelerating clean energy deployment.

Technology and Market Insights from Industry Leaders  

Techno-commercial presentations from leading companies including GoodWe Technologies, JA Solar, Lagnuvo Africa, Jinko Solar, SAJ, W. Giertsen Energy Solutions, ATESS Power, Gadgetronix, and Power & Sun highlighted advancements in solar modules, inverter technologies, battery storage systems, and integrated energy solutions tailored to Kenya and the broader East African market.

These sessions reflected the growing role of technology innovation and localized solutions in enabling reliable, efficient, and scalable clean energy deployment.

Key Discussions Shaping Kenya’s Energy Transition  

Panel discussions across the day addressed critical themes including grid expansion and system planning, distributed clean energy for enterprise and community impact, and financing frameworks to unlock private investment.

Senior government and institutional stakeholders including representatives from Kenya Power, Kenya Electricity Transmission Company, Rural Electrification and Renewable Energy Corporation, and the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority contributed to discussions on strengthening grid infrastructure, improving regulatory clarity, and enabling investment-ready project pipelines.

The conversations highlighted the importance of integrating solar and storage, expanding decentralized energy solutions, and leveraging financial instruments such as blended finance and climate capital to accelerate deployment.

In parallel, dedicated roundtable dialogues enabled deeper engagement on priority areas:

Kenya Clean Energy Leadership Awards 2026 and Future Energy Leadership Awards  

The event concluded with the Kenya Clean Energy Leadership Awards 2026 and the Future Energy Leadership Awards, recognising organisations, teams, and individuals driving innovation, leadership, and execution across Kenya’s clean energy ecosystem.

The awards were presented by Mr Victor Omindo, State Department of Energy Liaison, Ministry of Energy, celebrating contributions across solar, storage, and emerging clean energy technologies.
