Viridi battery

Fail-safe battery energy storage system (BESS) provider Viridi and “energy as a service” firm Budderfly are partnering for a nationwide commercial battery storage deployment initiative, the companies say.

The partnership — set to bring Viridi’s commercial BESS products to 100 Budderfly sites around the U.S. — marks a massive expansion for Budderfly and its wider energy infrastructure platform. From here, the company will be able to help commercial facilities like restaurants, retail, fitness, and manufacturing locations in order to modernize older energy-related infrastructure.

Al Subbloie, CEO of Shelton, Connecticut-based Budderfly says the battery systems will help to manage spiking electrical demand across the U.S. Additionally, the boom in deployments will help support American grid resiliency.

“As electricity demand continues to grow, businesses need integrated energy solutions that help them operate more efficiently while supporting the evolving needs of the grid,” he says. “This partnership is an important milestone in Budderfly’s multi-phase energy storage strategy, which will see deployments to thousands of commercial sites.”

Deployment across America

Viridi and Budderfly-backed battery deployments are now advancing on both coasts of the U.S., according to representatives from Viridi. Specifically, deployments across California, Massachusetts, and Budderfly’s native Connecticut will act as support posts for further expansion between the two firms, officials say.

“As businesses face growing pressure to improve energy resiliency, safety has become one of the most important considerations in commercial battery storage deployment,” says Jon M. Williams, CEO of Viridi. “Our partnership with Budderfly demonstrates that scalable energy storage systems can be deployed efficiently without compromising on safety, reliability, or performance. Together, we’re helping customers address growing energy demand challenges while supporting a more resilient energy future.”

Businesses across the U.S. continue to face heightened electricity demands, as well as increasing pressure to improve energy cleanliness and resiliency. In turn, batteries and distributed energy resources have become exceptionally important for commercial energy infrastructure.

Viridi’s proprietary RPSLinkEX systems have been engineered for “seamless integration” in the commercial realm, and will support grid-wide resiliency efforts with long-term energy optimization. The system will now help to manage energy demand, while supporting grid flexibility initiatives across the U.S.

The companies’ latest deployment is already active, and features two Budderfly-branded battery units at the headquarters of OEM Controls Inc., an electronic technologies manufacturer in Shelton, Connecticut. The deployment builds on Viridi’s battery systems, which are already in use at businesses around Shelton.
