San Francisco-based energy platform Aurora Solar has launched the Aurora Solar Marketplace, the company says. The marketplace acts as an online quoting service where homeowners can get a personalized estimate for residential solar installation.

Compatible with both residential solar and home storage capabilities, the service allows customers to compare local installers on their own energy timeline. The company adds that all of this can be done without the customer ever sharing their phone number.

As the service’s main backer, Aurora Solar currently powers more than 7,000 solar professionals across the U.S., and is used by many of the country’s top solar contractors. In total, the company’s platform has stood behind more than 20 million solar projects since 2013.

“The U.S. needs every electron it can get, and homeowners want to take control of their power instead of just paying more for it,” says Chris Hopper, co-founder and executive chairman of Aurora Solar. “With so much solar energy uncollected from rooftops, the Aurora Solar Marketplace empowers people to see what solar and storage means for their own home on their own terms, delivered by the company the industry already relies on to design and price solar.”

As home electrical utility bills continue to spike, affordable power feels less certain than ever, Aurora says. The new program aims to tackle that challenge.

Bolstering both trust and cost

Aurora Solar’s 2026 research says that “trust is the second-biggest barrier to going solar, only behind cost.” Company officials add that homeowners often have to hand over contact information before they ever see a cost estimate, leaving them unable to compare costs without giving up contact information to multiple people.

The new Aurora Solar Marketplace service allows homeowners to noy only personalize research and estimates for their home, but compare installers near their area. Additionally, the program allows those homeowners to reach out to a contractor when they feel ready, giving the process a “no strings attached” feel.

“I am a very price-sensitive person, so I was particularly concerned about that — but I was able to do a lot of research on different solar products with the Aurora Solar Marketplace,” says Richard, a residential solar from Georgia who used the marketplace for his installation. “It’s not just about saving money. When you see it and it looks nice, that helps too.”

Aurora Solar says its main goal is to empower homeowners to make solar adoption simple, predictable, and as financially feasible as possible. That level of clarity “hits home with solar shoppers,” company representatives say.

The Aurora Solar Marketplace is available for homeowners now on the company’s website.
