Base Power has announced the launch of its Base Core home battery system, designed to support residential utility customers and bolster the energy grid from the ground up.
The launch comes alongside the announcement of a $1 billion Series D financing at $13 billion in post-money valuation, the company says. The new battery, one of the largest on the residential market at 39.2 kWh / 78.4 kWh, is already in production at Base Power’s Base Factory 1 facility in Austin, Texas.
The new battery system is a company-wide response to the U.S.’s “foundational shift in energy demand,” says Zach Dell, CEO and co-founder of Base Power. Meeting spiking demand from the grid calls for massive updates in technology, and Base Core is specifically designed with that purpose in mind.
“We brought together the best hardware and software engineers in the world to build Core – a battery designed to protect American homes while supporting the grid,” Dell says. “It installs in under an hour, switches over seamlessly, is built to handle extreme weather, and delivers extended outage protection at a price Americans can afford.”
The Base Core battery system follows “a year of rapid growth,” Base Power officials say. The company has grown its overall battery fleet to more than 500 MWh, and has expanded beyond Texas, moving into the Illinois market. Additionally, the firm has launched partnerships with various utilities for more than 200 MW of generation capacity.
Raising further capital
Base Power has already raised more than $2.5 billion in capital as of August 2026, firm representatives note. With the Series D fundraising led by Ribbit, Addition, Valor Equity Partners, and JPMorganChase’s Strategic Investment Group, the investment aims to help bring domestic manufacturing back to the U.S. in an even stronger state.
“It is so important to bring manufacturing back to the US, especially for critical infrastructure,” says Justin Lopas, Base Power COO and co-founder. “Base’s Factory 1 is now producing thousands of systems a month, while our deployment team enables the safe, efficient installation of them on homes throughout Texas and beyond.”
Antonio Gracias, Founder, CEO and CIO of Valor Equity Partners, says Base Power has shown more than proof of concept of its efforts to go nationwide. His investment firm believes 2026 is the right time to double down, as electrical demand continues to skyrocket across the U.S.
“Since our initial investment, the Base team has executed on an ambitious plan to become America’s Power Company. Power demand has surged in that time, and Base has emerged as one of the fastest and most cost effective ways to add capacity to the grid,” he says. “We’re proud to continue backing this team and this mission so more Americans can enjoy the peace of mind of affordable & reliable power.”
The Base Core battery is available to homeowners throughout select regions of Texas and Illinois as of Aug. 5.
