Neom Green Hydrogen Company (NGHC) started the commissioning of the 2.2 GW green hydrogen and ammonia project in Saudi Arabia. “The plant remains on track with our 4 GW solar and wind power generation sites to be completed by mid-2026, followed by commissioning of the electrolysers, with expected product availability in 2027,” stated the company. In March, NGHC that construction was 90% complete across all sites. The joint venture is the result of a collaboration between Acwa, Air Products and Neom. The wind/PV-powered plant in Saudi Arabia will produce up to 600 tonnes per day of green hydrogen. China’s Sungrow recently said that it will provide its inverter skid technology and 1+X modular inverter solution for the project.

The Schleswig-Holstein Ministry of Energy Transition reportedly confirmed that the partners in HyScale 100 have canceled the 2.1 GW electrolyzer project planned at the Heide refinery in the German state. According to local media outlet NDR, the refinery cited a lack of planning certainty, among other factors, as the reason for canceling the wind-powered hydrogen production plant. Holcim, another project partner alongside Ørsted and Hynamics, reportedly said that the cancellation would not affect its other projects. The federal and state governments had allocated nearly €900 million to the project, NDR reported. pv magazine contacted the Schleswig-Holstein Ministry for confirmation. At the time of publication, the ministry had not responded.

Power to Hydrogen (P2H2) has delivered and begun installing a 500 kW anion exchange membrane (AEM) electrolyzer at the Port of Antwerp-Bruges in Belgium. “The project is the world’s first to utilize 250 kW AEM electrolyzer stacks and, once commissioned, will be the first AEM system to demonstrate renewable hydrogen production in a high-throughput industrial port environment under real operating conditions,” said the AEM electrolyzer systems developer. The system offers a sub-50-millisecond response for renewable load-following and pressurized operation. “By pairing performance with a lower-cost materials pathway, the company’s AEM systems can reduce Capex costs by up to 65% versus comparable PEM electrolyzers.” The public launch is planned for September.

Norway’s Hystar and India’s Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) have signed a collaboration agreement to enable the phased local manufacturing of PEM electrolyzers based on Hystar’s technology for green hydrogen projects in India. “India will play a key role in the global transition to green hydrogen, and the collaboration with BHEL provides a clear path to deploy our unique technology in the Indian market. We look forward to a long-term collaboration while building local capabilities together with such a capable partner as BHEL,” said Fredrik Mowill, CEO of Hystar.

The Italian government has launched its national support scheme for the production of renewable hydrogen and biohydrogen, with an annual spending limit of €400 million and an eligible production capacity quota of up to 200,000 tonnes per year. “Access to the incentives will be granted through competitive public procedures, held at least every six months between 2026 and 2029. The rankings will be determined on the basis of the discount offered compared with the maximum price set as the auction floor, rewarding projects capable of guaranteeing hydrogen production at the lowest cost,” wrote the Italian government.
