Ola Electric has unveiled its Shakti energy storage portfolio, marking its expansion beyond electric mobility into residential, commercial, industrial and utility-scale energy storage. The portfolio is built around the company’s indigenous lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery technology and vertically integrated cell-to-system capabilities.

The Shakti portfolio comprises Shakti Gen2 for residential applications, Shakti Rack for commercial and infrastructure applications, and Mahashakti for industrial and utility-scale energy storage. The solutions are designed to store electricity when available and dispatch it when required, supporting applications ranging from household backup and solar storage to renewable energy integration and grid support.

Shakti Portfolio Spans Residential to Grid-Scale Storage

The Shakti Gen2 residential energy storage system is available in 4.6 kWh/3 kW and 9.2 kWh/6 kW configurations, offering around 1.5 hours of backup at full load. The system combines battery backup, energy management and solar storage with maximum power point tracking (MPPT).

The 4.6 kWh model is priced at an introductory ₹99,999, while the 9.2 kWh model is priced at ₹1,74,999. Both models can be reserved for ₹999, with deliveries scheduled to begin in November 2026.

Ola Electric has also introduced the Shakti Solar Charge Controller, available in 3 kW and 6 kW configurations, to enable high-efficiency solar charging and integration with Shakti residential systems.

Shakti Rack Targets Commercial and Infrastructure Applications

For commercial establishments and infrastructure, Ola Electric has introduced the Shakti AC Rack and Shakti DC Rack.

The Shakti AC Rack provides 73 kWh of storage with an 18–50 kW inverter, 415 V three-phase AC configuration and integrated inverter. It is designed for facility backup, peak shaving, energy optimisation and modular capacity expansion.

The Shakti DC Rack offers 38–77 kWh per rack, operates at 48 V DC and uses air-cooled LFP battery technology. It is targeted at telecom and other DC infrastructure requiring direct DC power and critical backup capabilities.

Both Shakti Rack variants are scheduled to become available from March 2027.

6.26 MWh Mahashakti Targets Utility-Scale BESS

Ola Electric’s Mahashakti platform extends the portfolio into large industrial and utility-scale applications. The Mahashakti Rack offers 257 kWh of storage and 125 kW of power, with an integrated power conversion system (PCS), 415 V three-phase AC configuration and liquid cooling.

The larger Mahashakti containerised system offers 6.26 MWh of energy storage and 2.5 MW of power, with a 1,331.2 V DC configuration and liquid-cooled architecture. It can be configured for two- to four-hour duration and is designed for renewable energy management, peak shifting, energy arbitrage and grid support.

According to Ola Electric, the Mahashakti architecture can be scaled from a single container to GWh-scale energy storage plants.

Mahashakti Rack and Mahashakti are scheduled for availability from March 2027, with reservations open.

Ola Electric Targets Growing Indian Energy Storage Market

The launch comes as India’s energy storage requirements are expected to increase significantly with the expansion of renewable energy and the country’s target of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel-based power capacity.

Ola Electric has already signed an MoU with Axis Energy for the potential deployment of up to 20 GWh of battery energy storage systems by 2032 under the Mahashakti platform. The company has described the proposed deployment as one of the largest announced domestic deployments of indigenous battery storage technology.

The Shakti portfolio will use LFP cells produced through Ola Electric’s Krishnagiri Gigafactory. The company said its vertically integrated cell-to-pack approach is intended to improve safety, supply-chain security and total cost of ownership.

Ola Electric Expands Battery Technology Beyond EVs

Bhavish Aggarwal, Chairman and Managing Director, Ola Electric, said the company’s battery and cell technology has applications beyond electric mobility.

He said the Shakti portfolio extends the company’s technology from household applications to grid-scale energy storage, enabling India to store and use clean energy more efficiently. Ola Electric aims to leverage its Gigafactory, indigenous LFP cell technology and nationwide distribution network to develop energy storage solutions without incremental capital intensity.

Availability of Ola Shakti Products

Ola Electric said Shakti Gen2 reservations are open immediately through its website and retail network, with deliveries expected from November 2026.

The Shakti AC Rack and DC Rack, along with Mahashakti Rack and Mahashakti, are scheduled to become available from March 2027. The company said further details on commercial and utility-scale product pricing, technical specifications, performance data, warranty terms and additional partnerships will be announced later.
