EDF power solutions North America has signed two 25-year Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) with NV Energy covering the output of the 400 MWac Winston Energy solar project and a 400 MW/1,600 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) in Nevada.

Located on private land in Lyon County, the Winston Energy Project is expected to begin commercial electricity deliveries in October 2029. The project combines utility-scale solar generation with battery storage to provide renewable power and energy storage capacity to NV Energy customers.

The project is expected to employ more than 400 workers during peak construction. Over its operating life, Winston Energy is projected to generate approximately $100 million in tax revenue for the local community.

Once operational, the project is expected to generate around 1.11 million MWh of renewable electricity annually, enough to supply the equivalent of approximately 100,000 Nevada homes.

EDF power solutions said the project will also help reduce carbon emissions, with its annual renewable generation expected to avoid emissions equivalent to those produced by more than 187,000 passenger vehicles driven for one year.
