This August, Virto.MAX introduces new capabilities for electrical configuration and ground-mounted PV design, giving solar professionals more control over shading, battery storage, obstacles, inverter placement, and string configuration. These updates help EPCs, solar developers, and engineers assess and configure solar projects more accurately, from early-stage feasibility through electrical design.

INVERTER CONFIGURATION OVERVIEW

The inverter configuration overview now clearly shows how module groups and strings are distributed across each inverter and MPPT. This makes it easier to review the proposed electrical configuration and understand how the PV system is structured.

GROUND-LEVEL BESS & OBSTACLE PLACEMENT

Ground-level BESS & obstacle placement

Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and obstacles can now be placed directly on ground surfaces with a configurable height.

Their shadows are visualized when they impact a nearby PV layout, helping users account for potential shading impacts during project planning. BESS and obstacle information are also included in the PDF project overview for easier documentation and stakeholder communication.

SHADOW AGLE CALCULATION FOR GROUND MOUNT

Virto.MAX now automatically calculates the shadow angle for ground-mounted PV layouts, helping users understand shadow direction and make more informed decisions about row pitch and panel positioning.

This provides greater visibility into shading conditions during the early stages for ground-mounted solar project design.

SELECT THE PREFERRED STRING LENGTHS FOR THE INVERTER CONFIGURATION

Users can now define a preferred string length when configuring inverters.

Virto.MAX uses this input when calculating the inverter configuration, giving users more control over string design while also improving cable length estimation.

INVERTER PLACEMENT FOR CARPORTS & GROUND

Inverters can now be placed next to or underneath ground-mounted and carport PV layouts, making it easier to represent equipment in its intended location within the project. This provides greater flexibility when planning ground-mounted solar systems and solar carports, with further placement capabilities planned for future updates.

Iterating on building designs is now significantly easier.

Users can now:

  • Reshape flat roofs while solar panels remain in place
  • Move roofs without removing installed panels
  • Adjust building height even after inverter placement

These improvements reduce repetitive work and make it much faster to refine project layouts as design evolve.
