SolarEdge Technologies Inc. has launched its new UL 3141-certified Power Control System (PCS), the company announced Sept. 3.

Specially designed to help American commercial and industrial solar project developers, the new product aims to both simplify utility interconnection and expand onsite solar generation. The company says the product and its certification, which includes Power Export Limit and Non-Export Control functions, can also be of use to commercial installers.

“Commercial customers want to get the most value from their solar investments without adding unnecessary cost, complexity or engineering,” says Kleber Facchini, senior director of commercial and industrial projects and applications for SolarEdge North America. “Our UL 3141-certified Commercial Power Control System gives installers a simpler way to address export constraints and design systems around a customer’s changing energy needs.

“As electricity demand continues to grow, we’re helping businesses expand onsite solar generation while making better use of their existing electrical infrastructure.”

The product launches as an answer to continued business electrification adding new large load projects to the grid. The potential grid strain, partially fueled by manufacturing expansion and the rise of AI data centers, has made it more difficult for the U.S. to offset energy consumption.

Meeting the need with solar

SolarEdge officials say that businesses around the U.S. are looking to install solar capacity to help offset their spiking energy consumption. At the same time, American utilities have continued to adopt “increasingly stringent interconnection requirements,” the company says, making commercial project expansion difficult.

“Addressing these constraints has often required additional control equipment, custom engineering and electrical infrastructure upgrades,” the company says. “SolarEdge’s Commercial UL3141 PCS addresses these challenges by integrating certified power control directly into the SolarEdge inverter.”

The company says the new Power Control System product provides a more standardized approach to interconnection deployment. Streamlining this process greatly helps to improve overall project economics, the firm says, and supports utility-required export limits.

The company says its new product combines its commercial solar system architecture with inverter-integrated power control. This allows the Power Control System to help reduce balance of systems requirements, and reduce both design strains and costs.

SolarEdge’s UL 3141-certified Commercial Power Control System is now available for purchase. Eligible partner products include synergy inverters and three-phase inverters, company officials add.
