Solar tracker and foundation solution provider PV Hardware USA (PVH USA) has announced a major expansion of its original Houston, Texas, manufacturing facility. The expansion adds approximately 3,180 m2 of manufacturing space, increasing the company’s overall Houston footprint capacity by 42%.

The company said the added space will support a 35% increase in the production of pre-assembled tracker components. The move is designed to shift complex component assembly away from outdoor construction jobsites and into a controlled factory environment.

“We are investing in additional domestic manufacturing capacity because our customers are asking us to do more,” said Alfonso Queipo, CEO of PVH USA. “Pre-assembly has become an important part of that strategy because it allows us to move complexity out of the field and into an environment where we have greater control over quality, productivity and consistency.”

The project builds upon PVH USA’s growing footprint in Texas. In May 2024, the company invested $30 million to launch its first Houston facility, followed by the addition of a 95,000-square-foot tracker factory in September 2025.

Factory precision vs. field complexity

Since 2023, PVH USA has focused on refining its pre-assembly model to streamline utility-scale installations and offset field labor shortages facing EPCs and developers.

According to the company, completing sub-assembly tasks in the factory before equipment is shipped to project sites offers significant operational advantages. This approach reduces the number of loose components delivered on-site by up to 70%, with approximately 188 loose parts per row assembled in the factory rather than in the field. As a result, field installation rates can improve by up to 44%.

By shifting assembly work to a controlled factory environment, the company also reduces on-site labor requirements, improves project scheduling predictability, and minimizes workers’ exposure to adverse weather conditions, particularly during severe weather events or under tight project deadlines.

“Solar EPCs face mounting pressure regarding labor availability, strict timelines and total project costs,” said Rodolfo Bitar, vice president of business development for PVH USA. “Traditionally, manufacturers pushed the assembly burden onto the jobsite. We ask a different question: what work can be done more efficiently before the equipment ever leaves the factory?”

Domestic content and sustainability

In addition to site efficiency gains, PVH USA highlighted the sustainability and supply chain benefits of expanding domestic production in Texas. Localizing sub-assembly reduces the carbon emissions associated with long-haul international shipping while increasing domestic content compliance under U.S. clean energy incentive frameworks.

The company noted that steel accounts for more than 98% of the total weight of a PVH solar tracker system, enabling high end-of-life recyclability.

The expansion complements PVH’s existing terrain- and weather-resilient product portfolio, including its terrain-following AxoneDuo Infinity tracker (which accommodates up to 2 degrees of post-to-post slope variation) and its HazardPVH extreme weather mitigation software suite.
