Building on their existing partnership, SolarPower Europe and the National Solar Energy Federation of India (NSEFI) have signed a renewed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at enhancing EU-India collaboration in solar manufacturing and strengthening the diversification and resilience of solar value chains. India stands as one of the world’s largest and most vibrant solar markets, with a strong footprint of European companies operating in the region. European solar manufacturers contribute valuable expertise, such as on-site support, high-efficiency performance, and dependable customer service, while India continues to advance its domestic solar manufacturing capabilities.

In line with these strengths, SolarPower Europe and the National Solar Energy Federation of India (NSEFI) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance EU-India collaboration and diversify solar supply chains. Their joint efforts will focus on identifying business and financing prospects for manufacturing projects, promoting knowledge sharing, and building capacity between the two regions. Additionally, both associations will work together on regulatory matters related to solar equipment market access and engage with policymakers to support collaborative EU-India solar manufacturing initiatives.

This agreement supports the goals of the India-EU Clean Energy and Climate Partnership (CECP) and aligns with the recent commitment by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen to strengthen cooperation on clean energy and supply chains.

Máté Heisz, COO of SolarPower Europe, highlighted the EU-India partnership as key to advancing clean tech, noting that EU policies are boosting demand for resilient solar products. He said the renewed collaboration with NSEFI will create opportunities for European businesses and support India’s solar ambitions.

Subrahmanyam Pulipaka, CEO of NSEFI, said the strengthened partnership will drive innovation, investment, and resilient solar value chains, helping India meet its 2030 clean energy targets and emerge as a global solar manufacturing hub.

The renewed partnership builds on the launch of SolarPower Europe’s International Solar Manufacturing Initiative (ISMI), which serves as a platform to foster collaboration and create shared opportunities between European manufacturers—particularly solar equipment suppliers—and solar manufacturers in partner countries such as India.
