LONGi, a global leader in solar technology, unveiled its premium EcoLife series of back contact modules based on heterojunction (HBC) technology at Intersolar in Munich. This marked the first successful commercial application of heterojunction back contact technology in a solar module.
27.3% cell efficiency and module efficiency up to 25%
The EcoLife series module boasts an industry-leading cell efficiency of 27.3% and achieves module efficiency of up to 25%, establishing a new performance standard in the photovoltaic sector. The initial version introduced is a 54-cell bifacial premium module, with additional variants planned for future release. Specifically designed for residential applications, this module—unveiled at Intersolar—delivers a maximum power output of up to 510W, resulting in an impressive power density of 250W per square meter.

The EcoLife series, LONGi’s premium product line tailored for the residential market, is crafted to meet the evolving demands of homeowners by delivering top-tier performance, superior safety, long-term durability, and a sleek aesthetic ideal for compact rooftops. With this series, LONGi seeks to strengthen its connection with end users and adopt a more agile, locally attuned approach to product innovation, customer service, and brand engagement in key residential regions.
First commercialized PV module based on HBC platform
As the first commercially available PV module built on the HBC platform, the EcoLife series features the world’s only mass-produced HJT + BC cell technology. This innovative combination merges the high-efficiency passivation of heterojunction (HJT) cells with the multi-angle light absorption advantages of back-contact (BC) designs. The result is full-surface passivation that eliminates metal recombination loss and enables open-circuit voltages surpassing 750mV.

The EcoLife series delivers 40W more power output than conventional modules and can boost rooftop installation capacity by up to 9%, further cementing LONGi’s leadership in solar innovation.
Developed on the HBC platform, this series sets a new standard in energy yield and durability as the first mass-produced module of its kind. It boasts an exceptionally low temperature coefficient of -0.24%/°C, minimizing efficiency losses in high-heat conditions. The modules exhibit just 1% degradation in the first year, followed by an industry-leading annual degradation rate of only 0.35%. Designed for extreme resilience, EcoLife modules endure snow loads up to 4 meters (6000 Pa), resist Category 15 hurricane winds (3600 Pa), and are certified with a Class A fire rating for maximum safety.
TaiRay wafer and Anti-shading ensure enhanced safety features
LONGi’s proprietary TaiRay wafer enhances the module’s mechanical strength, increasing rupture resistance by 16% and reducing surface collapse under stress. The full back contact one-line welding structure reduces cell edge stress, improving the module’s anti-cracking performance.

In addition, the EcoLife series utilizes a wafer that is 10 μm thicker than standard alternatives, offering greater durability and extended lifespan. The module incorporates bipolar passivation across the front, sides, and back surfaces, and features an anti-shading design. Compared to conventional TOPCon cells, this design reduces local temperatures by 28% (equivalent to 38°C) under identical shading conditions, effectively minimizing hot spot formation and significantly lowering the risk of fire.
Supported by a 30-year warranty on both power output and materials, the EcoLife series ensures reliable and long-lasting performance tailored to the demands of residential applications.
EcoLife Series available in bifacial full black and transparent
- LR7-54HJBB – A 54-cell full black bifacial module with a maximum efficiency of 24.7% and 505W Pmax, designed for superior aesthetics and performance.
- LR7-54HJD – A 54-cell transparent bifacial module with 25.0% maximum efficiency and 510W Pmax, offering high energy yield and advanced safety features.
Due to the nature of back contact technology, both modules are engineered for optimal performance in low-light conditions, ensuring maximum energy autonomy for homes, even in shaded areas or with limited roof space.

The EcoLife Series will be available in August throughout Europe this year.
