The Chennai Port Authority has issued a Notice Inviting Tender for setting up a rooftop solar power project within its premises, marking another step toward clean and sustainable energy use. The project involves the design, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of a 2 MWp grid-connected rooftop solar photovoltaic system. The solar panels will be installed on four EXIM godowns located inside the Chennai Port area.

The project will be developed under the RESCO model and is part of the rooftop solar scheme for government buildings in Tamil Nadu. Through this initiative, the Port Authority aims to increase its green energy capacity and reduce dependence on conventional power sources. The move also supports broader environmental goals by promoting renewable energy at major industrial and logistics hubs.

The total project capacity is fixed at 2 MWp, with an estimated tender value of ₹12 crore. The work falls under the electrical works category, specifically related to solar PV panel installation. The contract period for completing the project is 365 days, and the bid validity has been set at 90 days. Pre-qualification requirements will be as mentioned in the budgetary documents.

Interested agencies are required to submit their budgetary offers to the Deputy Chief Mechanical Engineer (ES). The submissions must be delivered to the second floor of the Old Administrative Office Building on Rajaji Salai, Chennai. The final deadline for submitting the offers is December 31, 2025, by 5:00 pm. Through this initiative, the Chennai Port Authority has reaffirmed its commitment to adopting sustainable power solutions by working with professional renewable energy developers.
