Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has reaffirmed its ability to restore electricity supply with exceptional speed through its Automatic Smart Grid Restoration System, the first such system in the region, aimed at enhancing grid efficiency, reliability, and service continuity.

The advanced system enables automatic monitoring and control of the electricity network, significantly accelerating fault detection and power restoration while minimising human intervention. This digital solution supports DEWA’s strategy to deploy smart technologies for improving operational efficiency, grid stability, and customer service standards.

Speaking on the development, HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of DEWA, said that the authority continues to implement cutting-edge smart solutions to enhance network reliability and service quality. He noted that the Automatic Smart Grid Restoration System reflects DEWA’s commitment to innovation and sustainability, enabling rapid fault response and ensuring uninterrupted service in line with global best practices.

Al Tayer highlighted that DEWA customers benefit from the lowest customer minutes lost worldwide, recorded at just 0.94 minutes per year, underscoring the utility’s leadership in digital transformation and its contribution to Dubai’s smart and sustainable infrastructure goals. He added that the system provides a high level of automated control for managing the electricity grid, including in operational scenarios such as service reconnection after payment and disconnection due to non-payment, enabled through fully automated and flexible smart systems.

As a result of these initiatives, DEWA achieved a 98.9% customer happiness score in 2025 on the Dubai Government Instant Happiness Index, as measured by the Digital Dubai Authority, reflecting consistently high service satisfaction levels.
