Gulf Development Public Company Limited has commenced commercial operations of two solar power projects in Thailand, marking another milestone in the company’s renewable energy expansion. The projects began selling electricity on 15 December 2025 through Gulf Renewable Energy Company Limited (GRE), a wholly owned subsidiary of Gulf.

The two solar farms have a combined contracted capacity of 109.7 MW and an installed capacity of 145 MW. Power generated from the projects is being supplied to the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) under long-term power purchase agreements.

The first project, developed by Saeng Pat Phalangngan Company Limited, has a contracted capacity of 58.7 MW with an installed capacity of 77 MW and is located in Uttaradit province in northern Thailand. The second project, operated by Thai Pat Solar Company Limited, has a contracted capacity of 51.0 MW and an installed capacity of 68 MW, situated in Surin province in northeastern Thailand.

Both projects were awarded under Thailand’s Feed-in-Tariff programme for renewable energy development and operate under 25-year PPAs with EGAT at a tariff of THB 2.1679 per kilowatt-hour. The tariff structure provides long-term revenue visibility and supports stable electricity pricing, as solar generation does not involve fuel costs.

Gulf said the projects will contribute to reducing fuel price volatility in Thailand’s power system and support the country’s clean energy transition and net-zero emissions ambitions.

The commissioning of these solar farms forms part of GRE’s broader renewable energy pipeline. In 2024, five solar projects with a total contracted capacity of 295 MW entered commercial operation. In 2025, seven additional projects with a combined contracted capacity of 354.3 MW are scheduled to come online, with most already operational and the remaining expected to begin operations by the end of the year.
