India’s non-fossil fuel-based installed electricity capacity has reached 300.50 GW, taking the country beyond 60% of its 500 GW target for 2030. Solar leads the portfolio with 164.59 GW, followed by 58.14 GW of wind, 57.24 GW of large and small hydro, 11.75 GW of bio-power and 8.78 GW of nuclear capacity. Non-fossil sources now account for more than 54% of India’s roughly 552 GW installed generation base. The milestone reflects rapid renewable deployment, with a record 55.29 GW of non-fossil capacity added during FY2025-26.

The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has invited bids for the development of 922.635 kW of grid-connected rooftop solar projects across multiple locations in India. The Chhattisgarh State Renewable Energy Development Agency (CREDA) has floated an estimated ₹100 crore tender covering around 1,000 off-grid solar PV power plants across Chhattisgarh. Selected integrators will undertake supply, installation and commissioning while also providing insurance, repairs, maintenance and a five-year comprehensive maintenance contract.
