India and Japan have reaffirmed their commitment to deepen cooperation in the energy sector under the ongoing Japan-India Clean Energy Partnership (CEP), with a focus on energy security, clean energy transition, and climate change mitigation.

The latest Ministerial-level India-Japan Energy Dialogue was held today via video conferencing, co-chaired by Shri Manohar Lal, Minister of Power and Housing & Urban Affairs, Government of India, and Mr. Muto Yoji, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, Government of Japan.

During the meeting, key Indian ministries—including the Ministry of Power (MoP), Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas (MoPNG), and the Ministry of Coal—presented progress reports from their respective Joint Working Groups (JWGs) and discussed future collaboration pathways.

Both sides:

Reaffirmed their commitment to energy security and inclusive growth.

Welcomed progress in areas such as energy efficiency, clean hydrogen, ammonia, and renewable energy deployment.

Agreed to expand cooperation in carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS), green chemicals, biofuels, and advanced energy technologies.

The Ministers underlined that the India–Japan energy partnership will play a pivotal role in building secure, resilient, and sustainable energy systems across the Indo-Pacific region.
