JSW Energy is gearing up to operationalise its upcoming battery assembly plant in Pune, Maharashtra, by the third quarter of the current financial year (FY26), according to the company’s Joint Managing Director and CEO, Sharad Mahendra.

Speaking during an investor call, Mahendra revealed that the Pune facility will have an annual capacity of 5 gigawatt hours (GWh) and will primarily support Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). The project aims to help the company meet domestic content requirements for BESS once such norms are implemented.

Mahendra also said that JSW Energy’s green hydrogen project at Vijayanagar, with a capacity of 3,800 tonnes per annum (TPA), is nearing completion, and commissioning is expected soon.

During the July–September quarter, the company’s total revenue surged 59% year-on-year to ₹5,361 crore, compared to ₹3,459 crore in the same period last year. However, consolidated net profit declined 17% to ₹705 crore from ₹853 crore in the previous quarter.

JSW Energy currently has a total locked-in storage capacity of 29.4 GWh and aims to achieve 30 GW of generation capacity and 40 GWh of energy storage by 2030.
