A total of 35 solar-powered lamps have been installed at seven locations across the Kulai parliamentary constituency under the Sinar Harapan project, at a cost of RM122,500.

Kulai Member of Parliament and Deputy Minister of Communications Teo Nie Ching said the project, completed on September 11, was initiated following requests from the local community.

“The specifications of these solar lamps are 60 watts, six metres in height, and capable of operating for 12 hours daily from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Each unit is equipped with a two-day backup battery and carries a two-year warranty. Any damage can be promptly checked by the contractor,” Teo said during a site visit at Taman Impian Senai Arena on Wednesday night.

The installations include four lamps at Taman Impiana Senai Recreation Park, two at Kampung Baru Senai, two at Kampung Baru Sengkang, 10 at Kampung Baru Ayer Bemban Recreation Park, one at Kampung Baru Sedenak, 10 at Dewan Raya PPS Kampung Murni Jaya, and six at Surau Ayer Bemban.

Teo added that the LED solar lamp technology has been approved by the Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT) and certified by SIRIM. She noted that bulk installation reduced costs, with each lamp unit priced at about RM3,500.
