India’s power sector is witnessing a major transformation, driven by advancements in grid digitalization, renewable energy integration, decentralized power generation, and consumer-centric reforms. In line with this shift, the Ministry of Power has introduced the India Energy Stack (IES) — a Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) initiative aimed at creating a connected, intelligent, and interoperable energy ecosystem.

As part of this initiative, the Ministry will develop a Utility Intelligence Platform, leveraging standardized and open APIs and protocols. The platform will be built in collaboration with selected power distribution utilities and will facilitate seamless data exchange from various IT/OT systems, encouraging innovation and operational efficiency across the sector.

To ensure that the IES framework and its associated solutions are comprehensive, scalable, and future-ready, the Ministry has launched a Stakeholder Mapping Survey. The survey aims to collect detailed insights from all stakeholders on the following areas:

Organizational profiles

Existing solutions and innovations

Readiness to participate in the IES ecosystem

The Ministry emphasized that early integration of open standards and interoperability frameworks into product and platform design will be critical for stakeholders — including utilities, technology providers, and innovators. Early adoption will help organizations reduce retrofit costs, align with emerging standards, and contribute to a unified, innovation-driven power ecosystem.

The survey will remain open for two weeks from the date of this communication and will serve as a foundational reference for utilities and solution providers working toward transforming the sector.
