India is at a critical stage in its energy journey. With the increasing population, developing urbanization, and the mutiny of the middle class, the demand for energy has been substantial. On the other hand, the overbearing climatic conditions and unsettled environmental situations are forcing the nation to reevaluate their dependency on fossil fuels. In these circumstances, solar energy appears to be a requirement not an alternative.

India is solely positioned to utilise the power. With almost 300 sunny days in major parts of the country and a widespread landform, the possibility for solar inception is massive. As claimed by the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy “(MNRE)”, India has the capacity to generate up to 750 GW of solar energy. However, only a small portion of this potential has been tapped so far. The microeconomics of the same has been fiercely changed over the past few years. In recent years, the economics of solar energy have shifted significantly. Solar power has now become the most affordable source of electricity in India, even cheaper than thermal and hydroelectric power.

Apart from this, solar energy is now one of the biggest sources of new jobs in India, creating opportunities across manufacturing, installation, and maintenance. It supports a cleaner environment and a stronger economy. The Indian government has made solar as the foundation of the renewable energy approach. Various schemes such as PM-KUSUM that directly solarize the agricultural pumps & the solar rooftop phase have been invented to regularize sustainable energy. The solar sector is now witnessing major participation from private sector and foreign capitalist, leading to more innovation and business opportunities.
.

Other major benefit of solar energy is its ability to be used directly through decentralized systems, such as rooftop solar panels. These decentralized systems can help schools, hospitals, and businesses reduce their electricity bills, ensure reliable power supply, and contribute to a more eco-friendly environment.

Despite the advantages, challenges like land acquisition, grid access, and policy delays still slow the progress of spreading this clean energy resource. But schemes like PLI are helping it gain some momentum.

Solar energy is more than a green choice, it’s a smart economic move. As technology advances and costs fall, solar energy is set to play a key role in India’s future and for all industries to meet their sustainability goals.

Go solar and grow sustainably!
