Pace Digitek Limited has secured a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) EPC and long-term operations and maintenance (O&M) contract from NLC India Renewables Limited for the implementation of a 250 MW / 500 MWh utility-scale BESS project in Tamil Nadu.

The contract, valued at ₹7,099 million including GST, covers complete Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) execution excluding the supply of power transformers, along with 12 years of comprehensive O&M services.

Under the scope of the project, Pace Digitek will undertake design, engineering, manufacturing-linked supply, installation, testing, commissioning, and associated civil and infrastructure works for the deployment of the BESS systems across multiple locations in Tamil Nadu, including Ottapidaram, Anuppankulam, and Kayathar.

The company stated that the project will be executed within 12 months, followed by a 12-year long-term O&M engagement aimed at ensuring operational reliability and lifecycle performance of the energy storage assets.

The latest contract marks Pace Digitek’s second BESS order win for FY2027 and further strengthens its position in India’s rapidly growing utility-scale energy storage market. According to the company, its FY2027 year-to-date Energy segment order wins have reached ₹14,119 million, while cumulative Energy segment orders stand at ₹97,869 million.

With this project, the company’s cumulative BESS portfolio has expanded to more than 5 GWh, covering applications such as renewable energy integration, grid balancing, and utility-scale storage infrastructure.

Venugopal Rao Maddisetty said the project is strategically significant as it combines EPC execution with long-term O&M services, enabling the company to leverage its manufacturing, system integration, and lifecycle support capabilities.

He added that Pace Digitek’s expanding manufacturing ecosystem and operational capabilities position the company to efficiently execute large-format BESS deployments while maintaining tighter control over timelines, cost optimisation, quality, and delivery performance.

The project also reflects increasing momentum in India’s energy storage sector, driven by rising renewable energy integration requirements and the growing need for grid stability and flexible power infrastructure.
