Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi recently laid the foundation stone for the NTPC Nabinagar Super Thermal Power Project (STPP) Stage-II, consisting of three units of 800 MW each, in the Aurangabad district of Bihar. This project, valued at over Rs 29,948 crore, marks a significant step in the government’s commitment to strengthening the power infrastructure in Bihar and the broader Eastern India region. Alongside this, the Prime Minister also inaugurated and dedicated several other developmental projects worth a total of Rs 48,520 crore.

These events were held in the presence of prominent leaders, including the Governor of Bihar Shri Arif Mohammed Khan, Chief Minister Shri Nitish Kumar, Union Ministers such as Shri Jitan Ram Manjhi, Shri Rajiv Ranjan Singh (Lalan Singh), Shri Giriraj Singh, Shri Chirag Paswan, Shri Satish Chandra Dubey, Deputy Chief Ministers Shri Samrat Choudhary and Shri Vijay Kumar Sinha, and other senior officials from both the Central and Bihar governments.

The NTPC Nabinagar Stage-II project incorporates cutting-edge Ultra-Supercritical Technology, which offers the highest efficiency in power generation. To emphasize NTPC’s focus on water conservation, the project includes a Dry Bottom ash handling system and an air-cooled condenser, innovations that will significantly reduce freshwater usage during power generation. This modern technology aligns with sustainable practices while enhancing energy output.

Once operational, the project will supply affordable and reliable electricity to Bihar and other beneficiary states, including Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, West Bengal, and Punjab. It is expected to play a vital role in meeting the growing energy demands of local communities, industries, and businesses, thereby supporting the economic growth of the region. Moreover, the project contributes to the nation’s broader goals of energy security and affordability, helping India balance its energy needs with sustainable development. NTPC Ltd., India’s largest integrated power utility, currently meets about one-fourth of the country’s power requirements.

The company boasts an installed capacity exceeding 80 GW and has an additional 32 GW under construction, including 13 GW in renewable energy. NTPC is committed to expanding its renewable capacity to 60 GW by 2032, underscoring its dedication to a cleaner energy future. With a diverse energy portfolio that includes thermal, hydro, solar, and wind power plants, NTPC focuses on delivering reliable, affordable, and sustainable electricity to India.
