POWERCHINA has signed an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contract with Spanish energy company Viroque Energy Co. for the development of the Arreaz Photovoltaic Power Station Project in San Roque, Cádiz, in the Andalusia region of southern Spain.
The solar project, with an installed capacity of 44 megawatts (MW), is expected to generate approximately 95,000 megawatt-hours (MWh) of clean electricity annually. Once operational, it will support Andalusia’s transition to a low-carbon energy system and contribute to optimizing the regional energy structure.
Under the terms of the contract, POWERCHINA will be responsible for the full EPC scope, including the design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and ongoing operation and maintenance of the solar power facility.
The agreement marks a key milestone in Viroque Energy’s broader strategy to expand into the renewable energy sector. Traditionally focused on international trade of petroleum products, biofuels, natural gas, and liquefied natural gas (LNG), Viroque is now actively pursuing green energy initiatives, including solar photovoltaics, wind energy, and energy storage projects.
The Arreaz project reinforces both companies’ commitment to supporting global decarbonization efforts and delivering sustainable energy solutions across Europe.
