Sungrow, a global leader in PV inverter and energy storage system solutions, has been honored with the 2025 EUPD Research Top Brand PV Awards in both South Africa and Kenya, reinforcing its growing influence and trusted brand status across Africa’s dynamic renewable energy landscape.
The EUPD Research Top Brand PV Award is one of the most prestigious accolades in the solar sector, awarded based on rigorous market analysis and comprehensive customer feedback. By winning in two of Africa’s most competitive solar markets, Sungrow demonstrates its deep commitment to sustainability and innovation on the continent.
“This recognition reinforces Sungrow’s position as a trusted solar partner in South Africa and Kenya, and reflects our customers’ confidence in our technology and services,” said Eric Song, Deputy Director at Sungrow Southern Africa. “These awards deepen customer loyalty as we continue delivering reliable, Africa-ready solutions to meet the continent’s unique energy challenges.”
Sungrow’s performance in both countries reflects its strategic focus on tailored, high-performance technologies and strong local engagement. In South Africa, Sungrow made headlines with the supply of the country’s first wind-solar-storage integrated virtual power plant, incorporating a 264MWh PowerTitan liquid-cooled energy storage system. Additionally, it played a critical role in deploying a 150MW PV + 92MW/242MWh energy storage system (ESS) featuring 1+X modular inverters—projects aimed at enhancing grid stability and reducing load-shedding.
Sungrow also partnered with the SOLA Group to supply 256MW of utility-scale inverters for a standalone PV project, further solidifying its leadership in large-scale renewable deployments.
Beyond the utility sector, Sungrow has consistently demonstrated its capability across the commercial, industrial, and residential segments, delivering climate-resilient, high-efficiency systems that support widespread clean energy adoption.
“These awards validate Sungrow’s ability to provide high-performance, climate-resilient inverters and storage systems tailored for Africa. With local training, warehousing, and technical support, we’re not just selling products but building capacity and long-term partnerships,” added Eric Song.
Sungrow’s continued expansion in Africa is a key component of its broader regional strategy. The company is actively pursuing decentralized energy initiatives, forging new partnerships, and collaborating with governments and industry stakeholders to advance solar-plus-storage adoption across key Pan-African regions.
“This milestone underscores our long-term commitment to Africa’s energy transition. We are proud to support governments, businesses, and communities in building a cleaner, more resilient future. We welcome partners across the continent to join us in delivering sustainable, bankable energy solutions that meet Africa’s growing demand,” concluded Eric Song.
With a robust presence spanning utility-scale projects, hybrid commercial systems, and residential solutions, Sungrow is well-positioned to remain a driving force in Africa’s clean energy revolution, delivering smart, efficient, and reliable solar technologies that empower a sustainable future.
