Tandem PV, a leader in high-efficiency perovskite solar panel technology, has appointed Frank Blohm as Vice President of Operations as the company ramps up its efforts to bring its innovative solar products to market at a commercial scale. In his new role, Blohm will be responsible for overseeing the company’s operational expansion, including supply chain management, real estate planning, and facility development.
Blohm brings extensive experience in scaling advanced manufacturing operations within the clean energy sector. Prior to joining Tandem PV, he served as Chief Operating Officer at Relyion Energy and held senior leadership roles at companies such as EnerVenue, Infinera, and Velodyne LiDAR. Earlier in his career, he spent over a decade as a global operations executive at Extreme Networks, where he managed international supplier networks and scaled manufacturing operations across the United States, Asia, and Europe.
As Tandem PV works to localize its supply chain and strengthen domestic infrastructure, Blohm’s background in building resilient, efficient operations will be instrumental in reducing reliance on overseas suppliers and supporting U.S. leadership in next-generation solar technology. His appointment comes at a pivotal time for the company, which is currently expanding its operations following a $50 million Series A funding round.
Scott Wharton, CEO of Tandem PV, commented, “With the accelerating need to rebuild clean energy manufacturing in the U.S., Frank’s deep operational and supply chain expertise is exactly what we need. He’s led the scale-up of billion-dollar production operations and brings extensive experience from the battery industry – expertise that maps directly to the challenges and opportunities in scaling advanced solar manufacturing.”
Frank Blohm, stated, “What drew me to Tandem PV was the unique combination of world-class technology and a values-driven leadership team. Scaling operations and supply chain processes here isn’t just an exciting new professional challenge, it’s an opportunity to help advance the company’s mission to shape the future of American solar.”
Tandem PV’s proprietary solar panels combine thin-film perovskite with traditional silicon to create a tandem structure capable of generating up to 30% more power than conventional panels. By manufacturing its technology in the U.S., the company aims to lower costs, simplify logistics, and ensure secure, local access to advanced clean energy solutions. The company has also gained industry recognition for its innovation and impact.
Tandem PV was recently named one of TIME Magazine’s Top GreenTech Companies of 2025 and was featured on Congruent Ventures’ “50 by 2050” list of climate tech firms poised to shape the future. Additionally, Tandem PV received the 2025 National Renewable Energy Laboratory’s Best Pre-Commercialization award, further highlighting its potential to drive meaningful progress in renewable energy.
