
The American Clean Power Association (ACP), representing the U.S. energy storage industry, has announced a landmark $100 billion investment to build and procure American-made grid batteries. This unprecedented commitment is expected to create 350,000 jobs, strengthen U.S. energy security, and position the United States as a global leader in battery manufacturing.
This initiative supports efforts to unleash American energy and develop domestic sources of critical minerals, aligning with policy goals to boost domestic energy production and supply chain resilience. The investment aims to ensure that 100% of energy storage projects in the U.S. are powered by American-made batteries by 2030.
The $100 billion investment will be split between constructing new battery manufacturing facilities and purchasing domestically produced batteries for use in grid-scale energy storage projects. With over 25 battery production facilities already in development or expansion, the energy storage industry is rapidly building a robust domestic supply chain.“The energy storage industry is providing essential power when needed most while boosting domestic manufacturing and creating jobs across the country,” said Jason Grumet, CEO of ACP. “Today’s historic commitment will invest billions of dollars into American communities and position the United States as a manufacturing leader in battery technology that is critical to national and grid security.”

Energy Storage: Powering America’s Grid and Economic Growth
Battery energy storage has become a cornerstone of America’s energy transition, enhancing grid reliability, lowering costs, and boosting resilience against extreme weather. Since the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission’s Order 841 in 2018, energy storage deployment has grown 25-fold, transforming it into a key resource for meeting growing energy demand.
Battery storage enables more efficient use of all power sources—fossil and renewable—by storing excess energy for later use, reducing peak demand costs, and increasing the stability of the electric grid.
From manufacturing facilities in West Virginia to data centers and AI infrastructure in Texas and Arizona, energy storage is supporting the next generation of American industry. Currently, 31 states have energy storage projects under construction, reflecting widespread and growing demand.
This historic commitment marks a decisive step toward American energy dominance, ensuring the U.S. leads the world in battery manufacturing, energy innovation, and grid modernization.
