The UAE Embassy in Berlin, together with ADNOC, XRG, Masdar, and the Germany-UAE Business Council, hosted a reception last night to celebrate the UAE’s energy and industrial partnership with Europe. The event took place on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference and brought together more than 300 business leaders, lawmakers, government officials, and other key stakeholders from across the continent. It was co-hosted by Dr. Sultan Al Jaber, UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and Special Envoy to Germany, and His Excellency Ahmed Alattar, UAE Ambassador to Germany.
Speaking at the reception, Dr. Sultan Al Jaber emphasized the critical role of energy security in modern national security, noting that reliable long-term energy partners are more valuable than ever. He underscored the UAE’s commitment to supporting Germany and Europe, highlighting the country’s readiness to strengthen energy security and economic resilience across the continent. Guests also heard remarks from Ambassador Alattar and Markus Söder, Minister President of Bavaria, who welcomed the UAE as a reliable partner and long-term investor in Europe.
Through ADNOC, XRG, and Masdar, the UAE is playing a central role in enhancing Europe’s energy resilience by providing diversified supply, making large-scale investments, and fostering sustained industrial cooperation. Together, these three companies have committed more than €38 billion in energy and industrial investments across Europe. Germany, in particular, is a key partner in this collaboration. The UAE’s energy and industrial investments in Germany currently exceed €18 billion, with plans to increase this to approximately €30 billion over the next decade. These investments aim to drive innovation, strengthen industrial competitiveness, and support sustainable economic growth.

Alois Philipp Maria von und zu Liechtenstein, Crown Prince of Liechtenstein; Katherina Reiche, Germany’s Federal Minister of Economic Affairs and Energy; Carsten Schneider, Germany’s Federal Minister of the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety; Hendrik Wüst, Minister-President of North Rhine-Westphalia; Elisa Spiropali, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of Albania; and Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bahrain.

The reception follows the recent visit of His Excellency Friedrich Merz, Chancellor of Germany, to the UAE, during which Masdar and ADNOC signed agreements with RWE aimed at further strengthening Germany’s energy resilience. The event highlights the growing partnership between the UAE and Europe, reflecting both countries’ shared commitment to long-term energy security, industrial cooperation, and sustainable development.
