SAEL Industries Ltd. (SAEL), a vertically integrated renewable energy company, has commissioned a 1 GWp (800 MW) solar power plant at the world’s largest Renewable Energy Park in Khavda, Gujarat. The project has been developed through its subsidiaries SAEL Solar P4 Private Limited and SAEL Solar P5 Private Limited, each contributing 500 MWp (400 MW) of installed capacity.

The projects are supported by 25-year long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs) with Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL), providing long-term revenue visibility. The solar plant deploys over 1.5 million TOPCon bifacial solar modules, enhancing energy generation efficiency across the site.

More than 60 percent of the modules used in the project were assembled at SAEL’s solar manufacturing facilities in Punjab and Rajasthan, aligning with the Government of India’s ‘Make in India’ initiative and strengthening domestic manufacturing capabilities.

Commenting on the milestone, Mr. Laxit Awla, CEO and Executive Director, SAEL Industries Ltd., said that the Khavda Renewable Energy Park reflects the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to position India as a global renewable energy powerhouse. He added that large-scale clean energy development in Gujarat would help reduce dependence on conventional power sources, generate green employment, and support India’s target of achieving non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030. Awla noted that SAEL is committed to contributing to India’s solar growth through continued deployment of advanced technologies and value creation across the clean energy ecosystem.

The solar projects span nearly 3,600 acres near India’s western border and highlight SAEL’s engineering and execution capabilities in challenging conditions. The site features saline soil and seasonal flooding, with portions remaining submerged under nearly a metre of water during peak monsoon periods.

The commissioning of SAEL Solar P4 and SAEL Solar P5 further reinforces SAEL’s expansion across India’s renewable energy value chain. In November 2025, the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) allotted 200 acres of land for SAEL’s proposed integrated 5 GW solar cell and 5 GW module manufacturing facility, a move expected to create employment opportunities and reduce India’s dependence on imported solar equipment.
