Enphase Energy has announced the launch of an integrated home energy solution in Italy, allowing homeowners to combine solar power, battery storage, backup power and electric vehicle (EV) charging through a single platform.

The company’s IQ System Controller 3 enables homeowners with IQ Battery 5P systems to add home backup, including three-phase backup, while the IQ EV Charger 2 allows EV owners to charge their vehicles using electricity generated from their own solar systems.

The launch comes as Italy’s electricity grid faces increasing pressure from extreme heat. National grid operator Terna recorded a peak electricity demand of 55 GW on June 23, 2026, representing a 4.4% increase from the previous week. The heatwave also contributed to power disruptions in cities including Turin, Milan, Naples and Rome.

The IQ System Controller 3 is designed to allow homeowners to maintain power to essential circuits during grid outages while expanding their energy systems over time. Existing IQ Battery 5P users can either add backup capability or increase storage capacity by installing additional batteries.

Through Enphase’s FlexPhase technology, three-phase homes can receive backup power across all three phases, with homeowners and installers able to determine which circuits remain operational. The system supports loads of up to 80 A per phase and operates with an external grid-protection relay to meet Italy’s CEI 0-21 interconnection requirements.

The system is currently available through Enphase-certified installers using the Enphase Installer App. The company said the solution is designed to support households as they adopt electric vehicles, heat pumps and other electricity-consuming appliances.

Enphase has also expanded its home energy platform in Italy with the IQ EV Charger 2, which has been available across Europe since July 2026. The charger can operate as a standalone unit or integrate with Enphase solar and battery systems, enabling homeowners to maximise the use of surplus solar electricity for EV charging.

The IQ EV Charger 2 can automatically adjust charging based on solar production and begin charging with approximately 1.4 kW of surplus solar power. Homeowners using Enphase batteries do not require additional hardware, while customers with third-party solar systems can enable the same functionality by adding a third-party consumption meter.

Enphase said the availability of its EV charger also comes ahead of Italy’s planned Bonus Colonnine 2026 incentive, which is expected to provide government support covering up to 80% of the cost of purchasing and installing a home EV charger, subject to final eligibility criteria and funding limits.

The company said the combined platform is aimed at helping Italian households increase energy independence, maintain power during grid outages and maximise the use of renewable electricity for household consumption and EV charging.
