SPML Infra Limited has secured an order worth ₹186.41 crore from Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) for the extension of the 765/400/220 kV Bhadla-III Substation and Ramgarh Pooling Station in Rajasthan. The project marks a significant expansion of the company’s presence in India’s extra-high-voltage (EHV) power transmission infrastructure segment.
The order has been awarded under the 765 kV AIS Extension Substation Package SS-155T and involves the development and extension of high-capacity transmission infrastructure. The project forms part of the broader transmission system augmentation at Bhadla-III, Ramgarh Pooling Station and Kanpur, aimed at strengthening electricity transmission capabilities and supporting the integration of renewable energy into the national grid.
Under the project scope, SPML Infra will undertake the extension of the 765/400/220 kV Ramgarh Pooling Station. The work includes the installation of two 765/400 kV, 1,500 MVA Interconnecting Transformer (ICT) bays, two 400/220 kV, 500 MVA ICT bays, one 400 kV line bay and two 220 kV line bays.
At the 765/400/220 kV Bhadla-III Substation, the company will undertake the augmentation of five 400/220 kV, 500 MVA ICT bays, three 400 kV line bays and five 220 kV line bays. These additions are expected to enhance the capacity and operational capabilities of the substations.
The Bhadla and Ramgarh substations are important components of Rajasthan’s renewable energy transmission network. The region hosts some of India’s largest solar power developments, making reliable transmission infrastructure essential for evacuating electricity generated from renewable energy projects. The expansion is expected to strengthen grid connectivity and facilitate the integration of additional renewable power into the national electricity network.
The latest order further strengthens SPML Infra’s power transmission and distribution portfolio. The company has an established track record in executing substations, transmission networks and rural electrification projects. Its infrastructure development activities have helped connect more than 20,000 villages with electricity.
Commenting on the order, Abhinandan Sethi, Managing Director of SPML Infra Limited, said the project represents an important milestone in the company’s expansion into the 765 kV extra-high-voltage transmission segment. He acknowledged POWERGRID’s confidence in the company and highlighted its commitment to delivering the project with high standards of engineering, quality and execution.
Sethi also emphasised that India’s energy transition requires resilient transmission networks and large-scale energy storage solutions. He said SPML Infra is strengthening its capabilities across these complementary segments through engineering excellence, innovation and project execution.
The order aligns with the company’s broader strategy to expand its presence in power transmission infrastructure and battery energy storage systems, supporting India’s renewable energy integration, energy security and long-term sustainable development goals.
