Coulomb Solutions Inc. (CSI) has introduced a new 466 kWh mobile battery energy storage system (BESS) product, claiming reliable performance across a wide range of temperatures.

Featuring scalable battery packs with long-life, high-density lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cells, the new mobile system is vehicle-rated for daily transport, the company says. The 466 kWh battery system sits firmly in the middle of the company’s current product line, which scales from 233 kWh to 2.33 MWh.

“We’re excited to introduce our new 466 kWh Mobile Battery Storage and Power on Demand product,” says David Mazaika, CEO of CSI. “Our full line of mobile BESS units provides reliable power to enable replacement of diesel generators, and to support energy applications such as utility “rapid” energy storage deployment, demand shift to lower energy costs, peak shaving to minimize demand charges, data center backup, EV charging support, construction, mining, military, disaster response, and entertainment.”

Rated for 5,500 battery cycles on a 480 volts of alternating current (VAC) output, the battery supports both untethered and grid-tied modes of operation. The BESS system also sports fully bidirectional operation capabilities.

Ease of transport

Designed for both safety and durability for applications requiring daily system transport, the firm’s new 466 kWh BESS product was expressly engineered for high shock and vibration levels, CSI officials say. The company adds that the new battery system meets “stringent fire safety requirements” for its battery category.

The company’s new mobile BESS also integrates “premium components,” the company says, boasting a vehicle-rated thermal management system. The company’s higher wattage product, the 2.3 MWh “Green Energy ToGo” Mobile Battery Energy Storage System, recently helped the company win Innovators of the Year from Fleet Vision International (FVI), its first international recognition.

CSI’s customers in southern California and the San Francisco Bay Area, near its headquarters in Livermore, can qualify for “significant incentives” through June 2. The company says these battery incentives will reduce the cost of the 466 kWh BESS system by up to 75%, but that product availability remains limited.
