Energy storage firm EnerSys has introduced the newest member of its data center-focused line of batteries, the DataSafe Noir Lithium System.
Designed to control energy flow during peak demand times for large-load applications like AI data centers, the new EnerSys system has been engineered to control power behavior under both real and dynamic conditions. As data centers continue to to increase in density, complexity, and need for power, the need for high-performance batteries has spiked.
John Gagge, VP of business development at Energy Systems at EnerSys, says the new system gives data center operators direct and total control over energy output density.
“The industry has spent years optimizing batteries — increasing energy density and reducing footprint,” he says. “But the real issue is how the system behaves under stress, particularly in high-density environments. The DataSafe Noir system is designed to give operators control over that — not just improve performance on paper.”
EnerSys representatives say the DataSafe Noir delivers more than twice the output power and over 1.7 times more energy and capacity than other lithium systems. This not only enables more compact deployments and better utilization of floor space, but further expands the company’s offerings in the ever-changing world of AI.
Expanding technology for AI’s needs
The new system’s introduction is set to singlehandedly change the way power is deployed and evaluated inside data centers, the company says.
The new system expands the company’s data center portfolio, and builds on its thin plate pure lead (TPPL) battery technology, the company says. The battery also extends the firm’s abilities in supporting next-generation energy storage architecture.
“(TPPL technology) provides customers with both traditional lead-acid and advanced lithium-based options,” the company says, “enabling selection of the appropriate system architecture for specific operating requirements, supported by a single provider across multiple chemistries and deployment models.”
The DataSafe Noir also provides predictable control under load, even in high-density environments. The system creates reduced risk and improved reliability in operating performance, and allows operators to make smarter decisions, reducing human reliance on component comparisons and technical spec analysis.
The EnerSys DataSafe Noir battery system is available for purchase now, the company says.
