The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) has inaugurated the Wadi Al-Maasal well operation project and its associated pumping station in Yemen’s Taiz Governorate, marking another step toward improving access to clean and reliable water for local communities. The initiative is part of KSrelief’s ongoing efforts to strengthen essential public services and support sustainable development in the country.
The newly launched project features an integrated solar power system that will operate both the well and the pumping station. The solar-powered infrastructure will pump water into storage reservoirs, ensuring a continuous and reliable supply of clean water for residents. By using solar energy, the project reduces dependence on petroleum-based fuels, lowers operating costs, and promotes the adoption of environmentally friendly and renewable energy solutions.
According to KSrelief, the project is expected to benefit around 50,000 families living in Taiz Governorate, where access to safe drinking water has remained a significant challenge due to years of conflict and infrastructure damage. The improved water supply is expected to enhance public health, reduce the burden of water collection, and provide greater water security for communities.
The Wadi Al-Maasal well operation project forms part of Saudi Arabia’s broader humanitarian assistance to Yemen through KSrelief. The organization continues to implement sustainable water and infrastructure projects aimed at improving living conditions, strengthening essential services, and creating long-term humanitarian and development benefits for people across the country. By combining renewable energy with critical water infrastructure, the project also supports environmental sustainability while addressing the growing demand for safe and dependable water resources in Yemen.
