Samruk-Energy JSC and O-GREEN have signed a Strategic Cooperation Agreement to jointly develop renewable energy projects with a total installed capacity of approximately 2 GW across Kazakhstan, Central Asia, and other international markets. The agreement covers solar and wind power projects, supported by energy storage systems, to strengthen clean energy generation and improve the reliability of electricity supply.

The agreement was signed during the state visit of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik Al Said of Oman to Kazakhstan. Ansar Aidarov, Chief Investment Officer of Samruk-Energy JSC, and Mustafa Al Hinai, Chief Executive Officer of O-GREEN, signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organisations.

The partnership aims to supply electricity to wholesale power markets, industrial consumers and data centres. It will also explore solutions that combine renewable energy generation with storage systems to enable round-the-clock electricity supply, addressing the growing demand for reliable and cleaner power.

Under the agreement, O-GREEN will contribute its project development capabilities and technical expertise. Samruk-Energy will support the partnership by facilitating engagement with its subsidiaries, government authorities, the power system operator and potential electricity buyers in Kazakhstan.

Commenting on the agreement, Aidarov highlighted Kazakhstan’s renewable energy potential and the growing opportunities in Central Asia and other international markets. He emphasised the importance of developing projects that are technically sound, commercially viable and aligned with the requirements of the power systems where they operate.

O-GREEN serves as Oman’s global platform for green energy, technology and digital infrastructure, with a focus on renewable energy and infrastructure supporting artificial intelligence.

The agreement reflects both companies’ interest in expanding renewable energy development and exploring opportunities to meet rising electricity demand through integrated clean energy and storage solutions.
